Storefront Overview

uCitizen provides a marketplace platform where verified store owners can advertise products and services.

uCitizen only provides the platform and is not a party to transactions between buyers and sellers.

All transactions and agreements are the sole responsibility of the users involved.

Store Verification (KYC)

Before a store can list products, strict identity verification is required.

Store owners must provide:

• Valid National Identification
• Phone number registered in the same names as the ID
• Live selfie captured using the in-app camera
• Store physical address
• Store location matching the declared address

Submitted verification is reviewed by us (Boosted Technologies Limited) and may include physical verification of store existence.

KYC information is private and is never shared publicly inside the application.

KYC verification is required before any store or listing becomes public.

Verification Types

uCitizen provides different types of verification:

• Email Verification – Required to access the app
• App Verification – Provides a verified badge
• Store KYC Verification – Required to create and operate a store

These verification systems are separate and serve different purposes.

Store Listings

• Store owners may create listings at any time.
• Listings are reviewed before becoming public.
• Store owners cannot influence the verification process.
• Listings may be rejected or removed at any time.
• Stores may update listings anytime.
• Stores may update logos and images anytime.
• Stores may delete stores anytime.

Boosted Technologies Limited may remove any listing or store at any time.

IMEI Verification

For mobile phone listings, store owners may be required to provide IMEI numbers.

IMEI information helps users verify device eligibility, especially for used devices.

Store owners are responsible for the accuracy of IMEI information.

Buyer and Seller Interaction

Buyers and sellers may communicate using:

• In-app messaging
• Phone calls
• WhatsApp
• Any other method they choose

uCitizen does not control or guarantee communications between users.

All transactions are the responsibility of the users involved.

Location-Based Listings

Users are shown nearby store listings first based on their current or last known location.

Users may remove location filters to see listings from wider areas.

Store listings are shown without bias.

Promoted Listings

Promoted listings appear in dedicated sections.

Promoted listings are clearly marked with a promoted label.

Promotion does not guarantee sales or engagement.

Promotion payments are non-refundable.

Reviews and Ratings

• Users may rate and review stores.
• Stores may rate and review users.
• Reviews must reflect genuine experiences.
• Fake reviews may be removed.

AI Recommendations

uCitizen may use automated systems to analyze public data such as:

• Reviews
• Ratings
• Prices
• Product specifications

AI-generated recommendations are informational only.

uCitizen does not guarantee accuracy of AI recommendations.

Store Name Rules

Store names cannot be changed after approval except through an official request.

Store name change requests must be sent to:

store@ucitizen.co.ug

Boosted Technologies Limited may modify store names for compliance or safety reasons.

Safety and Reporting

Users are encouraged to report:

• Fraudulent stores
• Spam listings
• Misleading products

Reports help maintain a safe marketplace.
