Boosted Technologies Limited (“uCitizen”, “we”, “our”, “us”) provides a civic reporting and community safety platform. By using uCitizen, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

What We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Account Information: Name/display name, phone number, email, password (encrypted), profile photo (optional).
- Location Information: Precise location (GPS), approximate location, and the location attached to reports you submit.
- User-Generated Content: Text, photos, videos, and report metadata you upload or submit.
- Device & App Information: Device model, OS version, app version, identifiers, and crash/performance logs.
- Usage Information: Basic app interactions such as screens visited, feature usage, and timestamps (for security and improvement).
Location Access (Including Background)
1. When uCitizen Uses Location
We use your location to show nearby incidents, calculate distances, display your position on the map, and attach a location to reports you submit.
2. Background Location
uCitizen may access location in the background only when you enable Safety Alerts. This allows uCitizen to detect when you are near an urgent danger zone and send timely notifications, even when the app is closed or your phone is locked.
We do not use background location for advertising, profiling, or selling data.
3. Your Control
You can disable location access (including background) at any time in your device settings. Some features may not work properly without location.
Notifications
uCitizen may send push notifications such as safety alerts, incident updates, and account/security messages. You can turn off notifications in your device settings.
How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide map-based safety reporting and nearby incident discovery
- Deliver Safety Alerts when enabled
- Secure accounts, prevent abuse, and enforce policies
- Improve performance, reliability, and user experience
- Respond to user requests and support inquiries
We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing of Information
We may share information in limited situations:
1. With Other Users (Public Content)
Reports you submit may be visible to other users. Depending on the report type, this may include your report text, media, approximate location, and display name.
2. With Service Providers
We may use trusted providers for hosting, analytics, map services, and notifications (e.g., Google/Apple services). They process data only to provide services on our behalf.
3. Legal & Safety Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect users, investigate fraud/abuse, and respond to valid legal requests.
Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies.
If you request account deletion, we aim to remove your account from active systems within 90 days, except where retention is required by law or for security purposes.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and secure storage practices. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Children’s Privacy
uCitizen is intended for users aged 16 years and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your information. You can request help using the contact details below.
Third-Party Services
uCitizen may use third-party services such as Google Maps/Apple Maps and push notification providers. These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies.
